  3. Generate Depreciation Schedules

  5. Deprec8 is a MS Excel macro application that generates 
  6. depreciation schedules for tax and book purposes.  For tax 
  7. purposes, it uses the IRS defined Modified Accelerated Cost 
  8. Recovery System (MACRS) to calculate annual depreciation
  9. amounts.  For tax purposes, most tangible depreciable 
  10. property placed in service after 1986 must be depreciated 
  11. under MACRS.  Deprec8 gives you the option of using the 
  12. MACRS half-year or mid-quarter convention for property 
  13. being "depreciated over 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 or 20 years.  
  14. Schedules for 27.5 and 39 years use the IRS defined MACRS 
  15. mid-month convention.  For book purposes, Deprec8 
  16. generates schedules of any duration with either straight 
  17. line, double declining balance or the sum of the years 
  18. digits method.  Deprec8 handles fiscal years that do not 
  19. follow the calendar year, and salvage values for book 
  20. purposes.

  22. Deprec8 can not eliminate the need for consulting advice 
  23. from an accountant.  Ohio Star Software is not responsible 
  24. for any problems caused by the improper use of this 
  25. software, the improper application of accounting principles 
  26. or the violation of tax laws.

  28. How to use Deprec8.xlm
  29.  
  30. Running Deprec8.xlm is easy.  Deprec8.xlm is a Microsoft 
  31. Excel macro that runs automatically when opened by Excel.  
  32. Deprec8.xlm can also be re-started during the same Excel
  33. session by pressing Ctrl-Shift-A (for the input screen) or 
  34. Ctrl-Shift-Z (for the introductory screen).

  36. When you load Deprec8.xlm, you will see an introductory 
  37. screen.  Select "Generate a Depreciation Schedule" to go on
  38. to the input screen.  The input screen is used to provide 
  39. basic information about the asset (value, desc, etc...). When 
  40. you have all fields completed and select "OK" the macro will 
  41. generate a depreciation schedule based on the information 
  42. provided.

  47. Deprec8.xlm is not completely functional in it distributed 
  48. shareware form.  For tax purposes, it will only generate a 
  49. 10 year schedule. For book purposes, it will only generate 
  50. straight line depreciation schedules.  If you would like to 
  51. have the tool generate other lengths of tax purpose 
  52. schedules or a double declining balance schedule, you will 
  53. need to register the product.

  55. Registration Levels
  56.  
  57. Level 1: $10.00   You will receive the Full Function Password 
  58.      required to generate all of the possible schedule 
  59.      lengths and types.  If you only have a couple of 
  60.      assets to account for then this is the best way to go.

  62. Level 2: $25.00   You will receive the commercial 
  63.      (non-shareware) version of this product without 
  64.      password protection on the macro itself.  This will 
  65.      allow you to have complete control over how the 
  66.      schedules are generated and you won't have to enter a 
  67.      password to generate a schedule.  You will be able to 
  68.      modify the macro source code to customize the generated 
  69.      schedules for your business.  If you need to generate a 
  70.      lot of schedules and you need them customized for your 
  71.      business, this is the best way to go.
